Abergele GC: a holiday golfers favourite

With a spare few hours between meetings this was a rare treat for 2 of the company's shareholders to enjoy an afternoon's sunshine around this beautifully manicured parkland course which was founded in 1910 and designed by Hawtree.

Set under the watchful eye of Gwrych Castle the course is predominantly flat with an interesting array of sweeping left to right and right to left shaped holes. Of generous proportions in both length and width, the course provides a fair test with clear lines of sight from tee to fairway and fairway to green. The visiting golfer though must have a commitment to length from the tee as well as a sound putting stroke on the very true and large greens.

A strong finish is to be savoured with the 17th that is a long and uphill par 3 protected by strategic bunkering and a teasing risk & reward par 5.

All in all this is a mature parkland course that is ideal for the holiday golfer and one which though posing questions of your swing also rewards good course management.
